Introduction to Home Personal Care

Home Personal Care service offers essential support for individuals who wish to mntn their indepence while living at home, as well as assistance for caregivers in the management of dly responsibilities.

Services Offered

Trned care professionals provide Home Personal Care services to facilitate Activities of Dly Living ADLs such as bathing, light housekeeping, medication management, cognitive stimulation activities, elder-sitting and other essential tasks. These may include:

1. Respite Elder-Sitting: Providing temporary support for caregivers.

2. Instrumental Activities of Dly Living Assistance: ding in tasks like cooking, cleaning or managing household chores.

3. Self-care mntenance like light housekeeping and laundry assistance.

4. Medication Management Services: Provided under supervision by a registered healthcare professional such as a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or speech therapist.

5. Simple Mntenance Exercises if approved by a healthcare provider.

These services are prescribed based on the needs assessed by Allied Health professionals under the Allied Health Professions Act.

Dly Living Assistance Includes:

1. Personal Hygiene Activities: Such as washing and dressing assistance.

2. Dly Feeding Support: Including eating assistance if required due to medical conditions or disabilities.

3. Toileting Support: ding in bathroom activities for individuals with mobility restrictions.

4. Mobility Transferring: Facilitating movement around the home, especially for seniors using wheelchrs or walkers.

5. Cognitive Stimulation Activities: Engaging clients in mental exercises and games suitable for their cognitive abilities.

For caregivers seeking support to manage intensive care needs on a long-term basis or those requiring temporary relief from caregiving responsibilities, Home-based Respite Care HBRC can provide additional help.

How to Apply

To access the service, you should contact your healthcare provider at hospitals or polyclinics where regular visits are scheduled for your loved one. Alternatively, C Link centers are avlable for assistance with applications.

The minimum cost starts from $25 per hour before means-test subsidy, which helps in offsetting costs based on household income level.

Household Services Scheme

The Household Services Scheme HSS allows domestic service companies to hire more migrant workers for part-time chores like cleaning homes, grocery shopping, car washing and pet sitting services.

Starting from March 2023, a pilot program is introduced enabling selected HSS providers to offer basic elder-minding and child-minding support alongside regular household tasks.

HSS is inted for households who occasionally need domestic service help, not dly care needs.

For those requiring dedicated elderly care, mnstream services provided by the Ministry of Health MOH such as home personalnursing care, day care centers or community rehabilitation facilities are recommed.
